The model I think is a Rayburn Royal, as we have the operating instructions for Rayburn Royal. The manufacturing number inside the oven is No 2066 Left hand oven
There was damage to the fire bricks next to the oven, the layout was 2 bricks side by side, each brick is approx 28cm high by 14.5cm wide, 2.5cm thick. These bricks were positioned in the rayburn side by side sitting on the smaller side of the brick, there was then a small metal plate at the top which was held in place by a screw and obviously to stop the bricks moving into the fire as they expand.

We have recently purchased a cottage which has a solid fuel Rayburn stove. MY question is I can see where the fire sits but what heats the hotplate. There is a small round grate that lifts out the hotplate. Do you have to put coals down the grate too?? It seems unlikely but why is there a grate and what heats the hot plate - I look foward to hearing. Yes Asbestos is worrying - but since I grew up with an ago which was coal fired 45 years ago do I really need to worry aboit asbestos??
