WANTS : VITROLITE WANTED!
Looking for Vitrolite - preferably tiles for a future Bathroom project. Black & Green tiles are what I really am looking for - I am willing to travel & dismantle tiles which are in-situ.
Thanks!
Chris.

23 Aug 2004 11:40:31 : Removing glued on Vitrolite glass panels
The standard glue used was bitumen or tar based and the old way to remove this was by softening it with a solvent, like acetone, methyl ethyl ketone and methyl isobutyl ketone (both dangerous and not recommended), hot water (if you can create a way of holding it) and piano wire to saw down the softened mastic. It is a job best done by two people. There is a natural oil bitumen solvent invented by the BioComposites group at Bangor University, but we cannot track down a commercial product. Also try your local garage for a liquid tar cleaner. [From The Salvo Team

I have some tiles I am trying to get off the wall. A bit far for you to come and take them off, but once I get them off I could get back in touch and let you know how many I have. I have a bit of a problem in that they are attached with thick dobs of black tar like adhesive which is very hard to saw through as it bungs up the saw. Do you know of a good way to get them off? Hope you can help, JH
